As a teacher, I love my job and work at it quite a deal, but I am one of those people whose youngest child is a freshman at college. Time is more available now.

Be kind to yourself as you seek the balance. Even though I have more time now, I still continually work on balance.

Best of luck with this goal!!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06549453373381775445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5260281783531462876.post-27519711660181074872010-01-01T17:43:34.774-05:002010-01-01T17:43:34.774-05:00Happy New Year, Kip! My kids are now 7, 8, and 13 and believe it or not, after some very intentional decisions, I have achieved more balance than I had. It IS possible! Be encouraged! Set some spending goals -- not for your money, but your time. I also talk, talk, talk to my kids about this. As they've grown, they are able to help out and free up MY time for more quality time with them. Last, your post reminds me of Joyce Meyer surveying her crowd w/ the question, "How many of you are too busy?" (Most raised their hands) "Well", she said, "Guess what? You're in charge of your schedule." Usually there's more than just "love of work" driving us to take on more than what is sane. I'll be a mile or so away, rooting for your success in balancing 2010. -- hHisBothyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11647677361214688031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5260281783531462876.post-74319898497530954892009-12-31T12:29:55.366-05:002009-12-31T12:29:55.366-05:00Franki, good luck to you, too. In fact, I was just pondering which books should be pulled from our too-full shelves.

Mary, I can relate to the exercise goal--it too is part of the balance issue. I ran a 1/2 marathon shortly before Chloe was born (3 yrs. ago). I've run about a dozen times since then. :>( I did just buy a road bike that I've been riding in the basement thanks to Jon VD's trainer. Hopefully I'll be able to stick with it.Kieman Holland-Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04080876979484729972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5260281783531462876.post-42330403638832366032009-12-31T11:01:22.150-05:002009-12-31T11:01:22.150-05:00Balance is one of those lessons that we need to ke...Balance is one of those lessons that we need to keep relearning at each new stage of life. My recent lesson is how the exercise goal can never be over-emphasized in the life of a teacher/family person. The work will always be there, in ever-expanding piles.

Good luck!! Good luck with this!Frankihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00186802649034970935noreply@blogger.com
